Jianyuan Deng has successfully defended her Ph.D. dissertation in the Department of Biomedical Informatics. Jianyuan joined the Department of Biomedical Informatics in Fall 2018. Under the guidance of Dr. Fusheng Wang, Jianyuan's research, focused on "An Integrated Artificial Intelligence Pipeline for Drug Discovery," explores AI techniques in molecular property prediction and molecule generation. Her dissertation integrates informatics-based approaches for identifying key pharmacological components and includes a large-scale study on optimal properties for opioid analgesics. Her contributions extend to a publication in Nature Communications, challenging conventional approaches to molecular property prediction. Jianyuan has recently joined Johnson & Johnson Innovative Medicine (formerly Janssen Pharmaceuticals) as a data scientist.
