Assistant Professor, Associate Professor or Professor

Department of Biomedical Informatics and Stony Brook Cancer Center

The Department of Biomedical Informatics and the Stony Brook Cancer Center invite applications for tenure-track Assistant Professor, Associate Professor or Professor positions in Cancer Biomedical Informatics, including but not limited to: 

  • Cancer System Biology and Bioinformatics 
  • Clinical Cancer Informatics 
  • Cancer Imaging

Required: Ph.D. in Biomedical Informatics, M.D. degree with a fellowship or Master’s Degree in Biomedical Informatics, or Ph.D. in Computer Science, Computer Engineering, Physics or a related field (a candidate with a Ph.D. in other areas who has substantial postdoctoral experience in Biomedical Informatics will also be considered).  Candidates must also have published in at least one area of Cancer Biomedical Informatics.

Postdoctoral experience preferred: To be considered at the Associate Professor/Professor level, candidates should have active funded research programs in their area of expertise and a strong record of interdisciplinary collaborative research with a demonstrated ability to contribute to and lead team science efforts.  Research experience in translational informatics targeted at cancer research and in clinical informatics is desirable. 

Successful candidates will maintain competitive extramurally funded research programs, teach at both graduate and undergraduate levels, and serve the University, the Department and the professional community.

To qualify for tenure and/or a senior faculty appointment, the candidate must meet the criteria established by the School of Medicine.  The selected candidate must successfully clear a background investigation.  Further details are available here.
