Empire Innovation Professor in the AI Institute at Stony Brook University – level: Full or Associate Professor

 

Seeded by a $3 million SUNY Empire Innovation Program grant, the new Institute for AI-Driven Discovery and Innovation (IAI-DDI) at Stony Brook University invites applicants for Biomedical Informatics faculty positions at the Associate Professor and Full Professor levels.  The faculty position will reside in the department of Biomedical Informatics with affiliation in IAI-DDI and Computer Science. The position comes with the title of Empire Innovation Professor, and enhanced salary and research support. 

 

The successful candidate will have a research focus on applications of AI and machine learning to  Medicine, with possible areas of focus including Pathology and Radiology Imaging, clinical decision support, ICU and anesthesiology sensor data, mobile health, population health and precision medicine. Applications should have Ph.D. degree in Biomedical Informatics; or an M.D. degree with a fellowship or Masters in Biomedical Informatics; or a Ph.D. in Computer Science or Computer Engineering or a related field with demonstrated research experience in biomedical informatics.

 

Biomedical Informatics (BMI) is a “cross-campus” department bridging the School of Medicine and the College of Engineering and Applied Sciences.  Established in late 2013 with the recruitment of BMI’s inaugural chair, BMI already hosts a growing portfolio of federal funding,  PhD and MS degree programs,  and a Clinical Informatics Subspecialty Fellowship program.  This highly interdisciplinary collaborative group consists of faculty trained in Biomedical Informatics, Computer Science, Applied Mathematics and in many areas of clinical and research medicine.
