The Department of Biomedical Informatics has an immediate opening of a part-time hourly student research assistant.
Flexible schedule; HOURLY Student position (Undergrad or Grad
student) to start ASAP, through Spring semester. Summer and Fall 2018
continuation possible after demonstrated success in position.
Excellent opportunity to interact with senior faculty and software developers from SBU and other leading national institutions, during work and by participating in project meetings for this largely NIH-funded effort.
The Primary duty of this position is to generate ground-truth datasets for testing computer-aided analysis of whole-slide tissue images. Other duties will include testing and evaluation of software designed for analysis of tissue images and management and mining of image analysis results. Work to be performed at BMI Dept Student Lab, Health Science Center, Level 3.
Applicants Must 1) Have interest in pathology and/or biology; 2) have experience using scientific software systems; 3) be organized; 4) be able to work independently; 5) show attention to detail; 6) be able to follow instructions; 7) have good workplace skills: professional, dependable, arrive on time, and excellent verbal/written communication.
