BMI Fellow Receives National Aortic Research Award

Ahmad Aljobeh, MD, a surgery resident and Clinical Informatics Fellow in the Department of Biomedical Informatics, has been awarded the Jason Foster Aortic Award by the Society for Clinical Vascular Surgery (SCVS) at the 2026 SCVS Annual Symposium in San Diego, CA.

The Jason Foster Aortic Award recognizes the top scientific presentation focused on aortic disease, based on abstract quality, methodological rigor, and potential impact on clinical practice. Named in memory of Jason Foster, an aortic clinical specialist dedicated to advancing complex aortic care, the award honors individuals whose work meaningfully contributes to improving patient outcomes.

Dr. Aljobeh received the award for his presentation,
“Current AAA Screening Guidelines are Inadequate for Preventing Rupture in Many Patients: Missed Opportunities for Early Detection and Strategies for Improvement.”
His research identifies critical gaps in current abdominal aortic aneurysm (AAA) screening criteria and proposes actionable strategies to improve early detection and reduce the risk of life threatening rupture.

The SCVS Annual Symposium is a premier national forum bringing together vascular surgeons and researchers to share innovative research aimed at improving outcomes in vascular disease.
