IV Ramakrishnan is a Professor of Computer Science in SUNY Stony Brook. His principal area of research is Artificial Intelligence and its applications in select application domains, Biomedical Informatics (BMI) being one such domain. He has several ongoing BMI projects with clinicians in Stony Brook Medicine (SBM) including these three: In collaboration with radiologists in SBM he and his graduate students developed a Radiology Search Engine. In a joint project with SBM’s Emergency Department he developed a system for automatic identification of comorbidities from a patient’s Electronic Health Record (EHR) in the Emergency Room and automatically push them for review by the clinician. The third project involves the development of a machine learning based model that utilizes clinical information from a patient’s EHR to retrospectively identify the physician most responsible for the patient’s care in the hospital.
