BIOGRAPHY
 
Dr. I.V. Ramakrishnan received his PhD in Computer Science from the University of Texas at Austin. He is a Professor of Computer Science at Stony Brook University and serves as Associate Dean of Research for the College of Engineering and Applied Sciences. His principal area of research is artificial intelligence and its applications, with accessible computing and biomedical informatics as major application domains.
 
RESEARCH
 
Dr. Ramakrishnan’s research develops intelligent interaction technologies that make computing accessible to people with visual impairments, including screen readers and magnifiers, non-visual web browsing, accessible text entry powered by large language models, and assistive interfaces for documents, forms, and videos. He also leads biomedical informatics collaborations with Stony Brook Medicine clinicians, including a radiology search engine and systems for automatic identification of comorbidities from electronic health records in the emergency department.
