4 Best Papers in “Big Data — Smart Health Strategies"

BMI Chair, Faculty Paper selected as one of Journal of Biomedical Informatics 4 Best Papers in “Big Data — Smart Health Strategies;” included in the 2014 Yearbook of Medical Informatics.

The Editorial Board of the 2014 IMIA Yearbook of Medical Informatics has selected an article, “The Analytic Information Warehouse (AIW): a platform for analytics using electronic health record data.”   This work is co-authored by Dr. Joel H. Saltz, Cherith Professor and Founding Chair of the Stony Brook University Department of Biomedical Informatics (BMI), Vice President for Clinical Informatics, Stony Brook Medicine and Associate Director Stony Brook Cancer Center, and by Dr. Tahsin Kurc, BMI Department Vice Chair, with lead author Dr. Andrew R. Post, Assistant Professor of Biomedical Informatics at Emory University.

The article describes a novel software platform, called the Analytic Information Warehouse, designed to enable efficient analysis, annotation, and mining of electronic health record data. This platform has been developed as a collaboration between Drs. Andrew Post, Joel Saltz, and Tahsin Kurc.
 
This article is being listed in the Yearbook as one of the best articles from the literature in the ‘Big Data –Smart Health Strategies’ subfield of medical informatics published in the past year.
