BIOGRAPHY

Dr. Veena Lingam completed her Internal Medicine residency right here at Stony Brook University, and stayed on to be an academic Hospitalist. Along with her clinical responsibilities, she is involved in several teaching activities and quality improvement projects.

 During this time she has worked with SBM-IT on several quality improvement projects and also with the Clinical Transformation team in revamping the Resident and fellow orientation EMR training. Her pursuits also include the efforts to create a standardized approach to care of the elderly hospitalized patient and minimizing the use of unnecessary telemetry in  hospitalized patients. She pursued further training in Clinical Informatics and completed the AMIA 10 x 10 program in 2015, graduated from the Graduate Certification of Professional Achievement in Health IT program at Columbia University in 2017. She then successfully obtained her Board Certification in Clinical Informatics through ABPM.  In 2018, she was appointed as a Deputy Chief Medical Information Officer. She is working with SBM-IT team to further improve our EMR usability and workflow.

Dr. Lingam is looking forward to creating a well rounded CI Fellowship  under the guidance of Dr. Saltz and Dr. Kelly and prepare the trainees for a real world career in Clinical Informatics.
